A View of the Tent of the Tent With a View
Amanda and Peter were married last Saturday at the home of the groom's family in Shimmo on Nantucket and I wanted to share with you some various shots we took either of the tent, from the tent or in the tent.
The tent went up a few days before and I happened to have been on an aerial photo shoot with George Riethof of
Over Nantucket and grabbed this aerial of it. Aisling Glynn of
ACKtivities coordinated the entire wedding; I love working with her! She told me that her idea was to build the floor for the tent straight out from the house so that the guests had the illusion that there was nothing between them and the ocean. It worked! It almost felt as if we were on a ship looking out onto the water. Great foresight and great execution by
Chase Canopy.
The decor and floral design was so elegant and matched the harbor setting. Dawn Kelly and her team of
Soiree Floral outdid themselves again! I've been working with them a lot this season and they take a really unique approach to each wedding and each bride's individual taste. Check out the tabletops too provided by
Placesetters!

Backlight at a Brewster Beach

I love backlight. I love backlight. I love backlight. There! Did I say it enough? Romantic, soft, flattering. I always have a wedding guest ask, "Isn't the sun supposed to behind you?" or "Why are you shooting into the sun?" Well, I just smile and thank them for their help, but really, the feeling that is created by backlighting your subject is just plain sexy. The top image was taken with my new baby, the Nikon D700, and the bottom one with my workhorse, the Nikon D3. Raw files tweaked and played around with a little, but not too much. Thanks to Jen and Liam for trekking across the sandbar (Jen was actually carried out there!) and making my job so easy. I love backlight and I love what I do!

Daddy's Little Girl-A Wedding in Brewster
Lots of Fun in the Nantucket Sun: A Friday Wedding in June.
Kate and Dan were all about having fun! They shared their love with me and it shows in their pictures! Nantucket is a wedding photographer's dream with Main Street, the roses and fences, old Pacific Bank, the impromptu use of the Lily Pulitzer jeep, Easy Street and finally the reception at The Whaling Museum. These two were up for anything and made my day extra fun and easy and I thank them for that. Giving and showing your love makes your pictures 1000 times better. So, this entry is all about fun and love and showing it. I wish you two a long life of happiness together.
